Petition: Call for New Leadership at FIFA
Remove Gianni Infantino as FIFA President
Football belongs to the fans. Not to politicians. Not to private investors. Not to corporate interests.
Under Gianni Infantino's leadership, FIFA has become increasingly focused on expanding revenues, growing commercial partnerships and pursuing financial opportunities, while many supporters feel the voice of the fans has been left behind.
The latest proposal to sell a stake in the commercial rights of FIFA's competitions to private investors represents a major turning point for football. Once investors become stakeholders, financial returns inevitably become part of the conversation.
Football deserves leadership that protects the game first, not increase the size of the balance sheet. We call upon FIFA's Member Associations and the FIFA Congress to elect leadership that puts football, its players and its supporters before commercial interests.
Five Reasons Why Gianni Infantino Must Go
1. Football must belong to the fans, not investors
FIFA is exploring selling a stake in the commercial business behind competitions such as the FIFA World Cup to private investors.
Supporters understand the need to generate revenue, but football's biggest competitions should never become financial assets whose success is measured by investor returns.
The World Cup is a sporting competition and not an investment portfolio.
2. Commercial growth is overtaking the game itself
Across recent tournaments, fans have witnessed an increasing focus on generating revenue through expanded competitions, sponsorship opportunities and commercial partnerships.
It is becoming clear that football is becoming a business first and a sport second. Growth should strengthen football, not fundamentally change it.
3. Fans are being priced out
For many lifelong supporters, attending the FIFA World Cup has become unaffordable.
High ticket prices, travel costs and additional resale platform fees mean many genuine football fans are being replaced by corporate hospitality and premium experiences.
The World Cup should remain accessible to the people who made it the greatest sporting event on Earth.
4. Politics and commercial interests must never influence football
Football's independence must be protected.
FIFA claims to be politically neutral, yet Gianni Infantino has blurred the line between football and politics. From presenting a FIFA-related peace award to U.S. President Donald Trump to the controversy surrounding President Trump's publicly stated intervention regarding Folarin Balogun's suspension, FIFA has allowed politics to influence the world's game. Football decisions must never be shaped by political or commercial power.
5. Trust in officiating is lost
Every nation must compete under the same rules. Instead, many fans believe recent FIFA tournaments have featured controversial refereeing and disciplinary decisions that have disproportionately benefited larger footballing nations and superstar players while smaller/low ranking nations have been treated more harshly. Football decisions should be made solely on the basis of the rules and applied equally to every player and every nation.
Our Call
We respectfully call upon FIFA Member Associations and the FIFA Congress to:
-
Elect new leadership committed to putting football before commercial interests.
-
Reject any changes that prioritise investor returns over supporters.
-
Protect the long-term integrity and independence of FIFA competitions.
-
Keep the FIFA World Cup accessible and affordable for genuine football fans.
-
Introduce formal supporter representation in major decisions affecting international football.
-
Strengthen transparency, accountability and consistency in refereeing and disciplinary decisions.
-
Increase transparency and accountability in FIFA's commercial strategy.
Football is the world's game. Its future should be shaped by the people who love it and not simply by those who profit from it.
It is time for change. Sign this petition if you believe football deserves better.
